NFL DIVISION THREE: Tipperary 1-11 Limerick 1-10:TIPPERARY EDGED out Limerick when Barry Grogan slotted home a penalty two minutes from the end at Kilmallock yesterday. Limerick were clinging on to a one-point lead when Grogan was tripped by Limerick goalkeeper Seán Kiely. He kept his nerve to shoot low to the net.
On 28 minutes, Limerick’s John Galvin and Eamonn Hanrahan of Tipperary were shown yellow cards. Two minutes later, Ian Ryan punched to the net and, with the aid of the strong wind, Limerick led 1-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Ger Collins had the first point of the second half for Limerick who then went 26 minutes without a score. Eoin Hogan edged Limerick back in front, 1-9 to 0-11, as Ryan missed a free. Then Grogan struck his penalty and, with his side two points in arrears, Ryan kicked a point from a free for Limerick.
