THE LIMERICK hurling crisis was pushed down the road by Thursday night’s county committee meeting, which was addressed by senior hurling manager Justin McCarthy, who has been under increasing pressure from the phased withdrawal of senior players from the county training panel in protest at the manner in which the panel was cut.

After a lengthy discussion, which continued until around 11.30pm, a motion of no confidence in McCarthy from the Adare club wasn’t taken and it was decided to organise one last attempt to find an accommodation.

Delegates from the clubs of the affected players will meet this day week with the players and certain county officials at the Claughaun club to see if the situation can be resolved before Christmas.

Thursday’s night’s meeting also voted to support the agreement between the GAA and the Gaelic Players Association, which will be discussed at today’s Central Council meeting. It is expected to be passed for discussion at next year’s congress.
