ROUND-UP:DONNYBROOK PLAYED host yesterday to the annual Leinster Youths Finals. Enniscorthy lifted the Leinster Under-19 Cup following a 15-13 win over Boyne in a tight game.

Enniscorthy took a 12-5 lead into the interval thanks to two tries inside five minutes, first from Tony Ryan, following John Bracken’s excellent pass. Rory White added the second, which Brendan Doyle converted, to cancel out Boyne’s score from Robert Tallon.

With big hits coming in from both sets of players, Enniscorthy were awarded a penalty following an offside infringement in front of the post midway through the second half. Doyle’s attempt went straight between the posts to take the cup back to Wexford.

The Under-17 Culliton Cup final produced the game of the day between Tullamore and Carlow, with the Offaly side winning by the narrowest of margins, 31-30.

In a game that saw the lead change hands on five occasions, Tullamore fullback Paul Fennell got the vital try in the 63rd minute, and substitute Pietro Scarnicchio landed the conversion from out on the left touchline to lift the cup.

In the Under-15 McAuley Cup final, Navan beat Wexford 50-0. Navan captain Fergal Cleary put in a man-of-the-match performance, scoring four of the Meath side’s six tries.

Navan’s overall strength, speed and movement, particularly from fullback Eamon Sheridan and wingers Darragh Greene and Niall O’Reilly down the flanks, proved crucial.

Harry Hester had opened the scoring on five minutes, before two tries from Cleary and Sheridan’s conversion gave them a 17-0 half-time lead.

Second-half tries from Cleary, Niall Kane and substitute Alex Carpenter sealed the win.
