Tom Lehman fired his second consecutive five-under par 66 to seize a one-stroke lead over a trio of rivals after the second round of a $3.5 million PGA event yesterday.

An eagle and five birdies offset a lone bogey to leave the 42year-old American at 10-under par 132, one stroke ahead of Fiji's Vijay Singh and compatriots Billy Mayfair and Billy Andrade.

Lehman has found his putting touch, but admits he must do so more consistently to improve. He has not finished in the top 10 since January, when he was second at the Hawaiian Open.

"The big (factor) is confidence in all parts of your game," Lehman said. "If I had the confidence on the greens I do off the tees and fairways, I would be where I want to be."

Singh and Mayfair began the day sharing the lead with Doug Dunakey and had 68s to finish a stroke off the pace. Andrade fired a 67.
