Tom Lehman blew a four-shot lead at the Buick Open in Grand Blanc, Michigan yesterday to hand Tom Pernice Jr his first PGA Tour victory.
Pernice trailed Lehman by five shots entering yesterday's final round but turned in a seven-under-par 65. His 72-hole total of 18-under 270 meant he finished one stroke in front of Lehman, who posted his fourth runner-up showing of the year and remains winless on the PGA Tour since 1996.
Pernice won $432,000 for his win, while he also earned a spot in the PGA Championship, his first major since 1996.
Lehman tied for second with Bob Tway and Ted Tryba. Tway, who shot a 65, would have tied for the lead but missed a five-foot eagle put at the 13th hole.
