Seth Johnson put the finishing touches to his £9 million switch from Derby yesterday, the midfielder finalising personal terms and undergoing a stringent medical. Leeds are paying Derby an initial £7 million, with the remaining £2 million paid in relation to appearances.

First-team coach Brian Kidd, deputising at yesterday's media conference for David O'Leary who was involved with the Johnson deal, is confident Leeds are on the verge of winning things. "There's the same sense of hunger and determination here as there was during my time at Manchester United," said Kidd.

Having turned his ankle and missing out on training yesterday, Harry Kewell is a slight doubt to face Troyes, although Kidd has dismissed the injury as "nothing serious".

O'Leary at least has options as midfielder Lee Bowyer and striker Alan Smith both return from European suspensions.
