PAUL WALSH (33), from Greystones is to be the executive secretary of the Harp National League. Walsh's appointment to the newly created post was approved at a meeting of the management committee in Dublin last evening. His nomination came as something of a surprise in as much as he has not been involved in senior football.

He has had, however, experience of junior competition in the Wicklow area before going to live in Britain. He is also said to have some media experience, an important component of the post according to the president of the National League, Michael Hyland.
