Armagh 0-11 Fermanagh 0-10: ARMAGH EASED their relegation worries with a win over Fermanagh at Brewster Park on Saturday evening.
Armagh were a point to the good at the break and it took two late scores from substitutes Stephen Forker and Peadar Toal to get the visitors over the winning line.
Armagh, who had gone two points clear at the three-quarter mark, missed a penalty, taken by Aiden O’Rourke. Fermanagh tied the game on 0-9 each with six minutes remaining. They had a chance to nudge in front but Shane O’Brien saw his 40-metre shot spiral down off the upright. Armagh counter-attacked and Forker shot his team back into a lead which they did not relinqush.
Most of the scoring for both sides came from place-kickers. Steven McDonnell shot five frees for Armagh plus one from play and Shane O’Brien collected five for the home side, four of from placed kicks. Fermanagh held a two-point lead midway through the first half but failed to utilise their good possession to the full.
Tommy McElroy levelled on the restart and, in a finely balanced half, the teams were level on three occasions before Armagh made the late surge.
