Mayo 1-12 Monaghan 0-9/After extra time:CONNACHT CHAMPIONS Mayo advanced to the All-Ireland minor semi-final with a flattering six-point win after extra-time.
Points from Aodan O'Shea, David Drake and Alex Corduff gave Mayo the lead, 0-3 to 0-1, going into the interval after a drab first half. Monaghan's point came from the boot of Kieran Hughes.
Monaghan were the better side in the second half and within five minutes of the restart were level, thanks to two points from Hughes. But for all their possession they struggled to score. Five minutes from time Aaron McCarey put them in front but Mayo's Cathal Freeman got a last-minute equaliser to force extra-time.
Mayo pulled away in extra-time and were three in front entering the final five minutes. Hughes was unlucky not to level in the 78th minute; his cracking shot was pushed on to the post by the Mayo goalkeeper Robert Hennelly.
Daniel O'Hara sealed the win with a goal in the dying seconds.
