St Nessan's, Limerick, defeated Waterpark, Waterford, with a try from Adrian Cronin seven minutes from time to qualify for the second round.

In difficult conditions St Nessan's held the whip-hand in the first half, and led 3-0 at halftime from out-half Kevin O'Mahony's penalty.

Waterpark were a different team on the resumption and took the lead with a try by number eight Philip Murphy.

But Cronin finished off a good attack with the winning try.
