Laois 2-10 Kerry 2-9:Women's Football NFL final: Laois snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Suburu Ladies NFL league final at Cusack Park, Ennis yesterday.
Kerry were leading 2-9 to 2-7 but Laois's Tracey Lawlor and Mary Kehoe levelled matters when injury-time seemed to have elapsed. Then Geraldine O'Shea contested a 50-50 ball with Laois's Patricia Fogarty and the referee harshly penalised O'Shea. This allowed Sue Ramsbottom to fire over the winning point.
The sides were tied 0-6 to 1-3 at the interval, with Laois's goal coming through Martha Kirwan.
Kerry fought back in the second-half and Patrice Dennehy gave them the lead with a goal but Laois moved a goal clear after Mary Kirwan found the net.
Kerry reclaimed the lead following a Sari Delaney goal and should really have put the midlanders away when O'Shea was fouled in the box, but she drove the resulting penalty wide.
