TOM KITE, who hasn't won or the PGA Tour in almost four years fired a four under par 68 yesterday to move into a tie for the lead with Mike Hulbert after the second round of the Greater Greensboro Classic.
Kite, whose last win came at the 1993 Los Angeles Open, had a nine under par total of 135. Hulbert, who shared the lead its Sandy Lyle and Robert Damron or 66 after the first round, followed up with a 69 that included a birdie a the last. Hulbert has three Tour victories, but none since the 1991 Anheuser Busch Classic.
Kirk Triplett and Mike Standly, neither of whom have on the PGA Tour, were one stroke back on 136. Six golfers, including Paul Stankowski, are at 137.
Stankowski shot a 68 to join the chase.
Defending champion Mark O'Meara, who is third on the money list behind Australian Steve Elkington and Masters Champion Tiger Woods, carded a 67 for 139, four shots adrift.
