WHILE Limerick manager Tom Ryan is due to enter the Limerick Regional Hospital today for exploratory tests because of hoarseness, star player Gary Kirby was temporarily released from the same hospital yesterday afternoon but is due to return for further tests with the specialist today. Kirby was rushed to hospital with a suspected fracture of the skull on Wednesday and had scans.
It's in the hands of the medical people. All we can do at the moment is hope for the best and await the a report. For my part my only real concern is for Gary him self," said Ryan, who had not anticipated that he would also be in hospital for tests.
"As far as the team is concerned we are looking at the options open to us but we will not be making any decision until just before the match on Sunday morning," added Ryan.
The manager confirmed that Declan Nash is certain to play despite sustaining a broken nose in last Sunday's game. Nash's breathing is seemingly unaffected."
Meanwhile, Dublin Board referees are to meet within the next couple of weeks to discuss the growing dissatisfaction with match arrangements concerning them.
One referee, J P Costelloe, who arrived at his eighth match this season on Wednesday evening only to find that one of the teams had been told the game had been called off, said I am thinking of giving it up".
Some referees are also dissatisfied with the appointing system and the referees board.
