KILDARE SFC SEMI-FINAL: St Laurence's 1-11 Celbridge 2-8:SUBSTITUTE TREVOR Kilgallon struck for a point eight minutes into injury-time to rescue defending champions Celbridge in yesterday's Kildare SFC semi-final in Newbridge.
St Laurence’s, who are chasing their first senior title, had led for most of the second half and looked to have held out but Kilgallon struck to set up a replay which is likely to take place next week.
Celbridge led at the interval by 2-3 to 1-5, despite conceding a fifth minute goal to Dessie Lawler.
Mark O’Sullivan slotted an 11th minute penalty and, though Barry Mackey’s free kept St Laurence’s in front, Pádraig Fitzgerald’s goal gave the north Kildare men a slim advantage.
The second half was a titanic struggle and another brace of Mackey frees, allied to two points from John Fogarty, looked to have given the Narraghmore men the honours, despite some fine shooting by Shane Harte.
There were a number of stoppages though and there was still time for Kilgallon to give Celbridge a second bite of the cherry.
