Women's football: Kerry pulled off a big shock in Division One A of the women's National Football League yesterday with an eight-point victory over Mayo at Ballinrobe.
Kerry led by three points at the break and pulled away in the second half with Sinead Bunyan's goal effectively sealing the victory, 1-13 to 0-8.
Monaghan also registered their first win of the campaign as they beat All-Ireland junior champions Kildare in Newbridge, 3-10 to 2-4.
Monaghan's Aisling Tierney put in the performance of the day as she chalked up a personal tally of 3-3 in the victory. Simone Gilabert scored two goals for Kildare who trailed 2-2 to 1-2 at the break.
In the only other Division One A game, Galway beat Cork in Donoughmore, 0-11 to 0-7.
Meanwhile, Meath continued their good run of form in Division One B with a strong away win over Roscommon in Ballyfornan, 0-11 to 0-4. Dublin accounted for Tyrone, 1-14 to 1-9, in Portmarnock.
Waterford also made it two wins on the trot in Division One B with a victory over Louth in Ballylinan, 2-10 to 1-3.
