Keohane set for further success on British circuit

Michael Keohane has signed with the winning Carlin Motorsport team to contest the British Formula 3 Championship in 2002

Michael Keohane has signed with the winning Carlin Motorsport team to contest the British Formula 3 Championship in 2002. This is a fantastic opportunity for the 21-year-old Clonakilty driver who finished third in the scholarship class of this year's series, in which he scored five wins and was on the podium no fewer than 15 times during a tough debut season.

Carlin Motorsport drivers Takuma Sato (Japan) and Britain's Anthony Davidson won 18 of the 24 championship races, with Sato winning 12 and the title. He has signed with Jordan to contest the FIA Formula One World Championship next year, and Davidson is test and reserve driver for BAR.

Carlin, following intensive negotiations with Keohane, is determined to repeat this season's success and in addition to Keohane will run the former Jaguar F3 driver Australian James Courtney and South African Alan van der Merwe, winner of the recent Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch.

The Irish driver faces a busy time testing in December at Pembrey, Rockingham, Oulton Park, Donington Park and other UK circuits in advance preparation for 2002.
