Keane contract talks continue

Manchester United and Roy Keane's solicitor will meet next week in another attempt to break the deadlock over contract talks.

Manchester United and Roy Keane's solicitor will meet next week in another attempt to break the deadlock over contract talks.

Negotiations on Wednesday night failed to find a breakthrough and both sides have agreed to carry on their discussions next Tuesday.

Michael Kennedy, Keane's solicitor, said: "There's a meeting arranged for next week and we hope we will be able to carry on our discussions at that meeting."

So far Keane has rejected United's offers and time is running out if they are to persuade him to sign a new deal.

From January 1st the United captain will be free to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement and that is when the race for his signature could really hot up.

Then the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan can officially join the bidding and they will be able to offer much more money than United.

Keane (28) has maintained all along that he wants the best deal he can get, although he still does not know if he will stay at Old Trafford or leave for abroad on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.
