Bray Wanderers 1 Finn Harps 0:A PATRICK Kavanagh strike ended Bray's goal drought to give them their first win of the season and lift them off the foot of the table. Bray goalkeeper Chris O'Connor also made a penalty save from Conor Gethins to add to a fine save in the first half from Chris Breen.

Kavanagh struck on 48 minutes - Bray's first goal in 408 minutes - when Harps goalkeeper James Gallagher raced off his line to close Kavanagh down after Ronan Ivory's ball over the top put the winger through. However, Kavanagh got the vital touch to flick the ball past the stranded goalkeeper.

Limerick referee Mark Gough pointed to the spot after Bray's Derek Foran appeared to have won the ball cleanly from Breen. However, O'Connor pushed Gethins's spot kick to safety.

Substitute Marc Brolly should have equalised on 67 minutes, but blazed over the top.

Bray had begun brightly with Ger Rowe wasting a golden opportunity after only two minutes. Two minutes later Alan Cawley, from Kavanagh's pull-back, brought the first save of the night from Gallagher.

Harps played their way into the game with Gethins their chief threat and he snatched at Tony Shields' square pace to blaze over the bar on 23 minutes. Gethins' guile put Breen in on goal seven minutes later to force O'Connor into a good save with his feet.
