Kathryn's Pet is logical choice

Kathryn's Pet is the logical choice for today's £8,500-added Tote Handicap Hurdle at Doncaster

Kathryn's Pet is the logical choice for today's £8,500-added Tote Handicap Hurdle at Doncaster. The six-year-old is a typical "improver" from the Mary Reveley stable and has really come into her own this season.

She is unbeaten in three starts and her latest win was easily the most impressive of the trio.

Racing over today's course and distance, Kathryn's Pet scored without being asked a serious question and was eased down to beat Samanid by two lengths.

A 6lb rise in her handicap mark should not be enough to stop her. Though cases can be made for several of today's field, Kathryn's Pet is the one who looks ahead of the handicapper.

Harfdecent is worth another chance to complete a Reveley double in the Dove INGS Handicap Chase.

A progressive novice last season, the eight-year-old was travelling well when falling five out on his reappearance over course and distance last month and then ran an odd race at Huntingdon, coming from way off the pace to finish 11 lengths third to O My Love.

His jockey reported that Harfdecent choked in the back straight that day so a bolder showing can be expected this time.

Manasis can confirm his recent improvement in the Liberty Bells Novices' Handicap Chase.

One of several New Zealand imports trained by Steve Brookshaw, the eight-year-old won over hurdles two seasons ago but proved disappointing over fences this term.

But on his latest start - over today's course and distance - Manasis put his best foot forward.

Sent off at 33 to 1 for a novice chase, Manasis ran on well to finish a length and three-quarters second to Moor Lane, with hot favourite Supreme Charm a head back in third.

That looked like a decent race and if Manasis can maintain the same level of form he looks nicely treated off an official rating of 94.

At Folkestone, Henrietta Knight can complete a double with Skipcarl and What A Fuss.

Tom George's Carlingford Gale booked her ticket to the Cheltenham Festival at Ludlow yesterday when taking the Broome Handicap Chase by 10 lengths from Moorland Highflyer in the hands of Irish amateur Kevin O'Ryan.

But the mare probably had luck on her side as she was left clear by the final fence blunder of Bold Statement, whom she was challenging strongly at the time.

O'Ryan was riding his 15th career winner and his claim now drops to 5lb. He is based with Willie Mullins and went over to partner Carlingford Gale as he will again be in the saddle in the Kim Muir Chase at Cheltenham.

Jamie Osborne gave up his remaining rides after bruising a wrist when Blown Wind fell. He intends to resume riding at Wincanton tomorrow.

The first division of the Ash Novices' Hurdle went to In Question. Having his first run for Venetia Williams and ridden by Norman Williamson, he came home 12 lengths to the good.
