Brian Meehan predicted a bright future for Kaieteur after the colt had comfortably taken the second division of the End of Season Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Bath yesterday in the hands of Jimmy Fortune.

The winner had caught the eye on his Newbury debut when runner-up behind Al Mohallab but readily went one better on this occasion as he lengthened nicely before being heavily eased down for a three quarters of a length call over Statim.

Meehan said: "He's one of my nicest horses for next season and could be a Derby horse - I'm not saying our Derby but one somewhere, as he killed the race there in a matter of strides."

The first division went to the Pat Eddery and Indian Solitaire who proved too tough for Celtic Spile, much to the delight of part owner Bill Hinge, who admitted having a "substantial bet".
