Juventus 1 Bayern Munich 4:JUVENTUS CRASHED out of the Champions League with a miserable performance in front of their fans as they capitulated to a rampant Bayern Munich.

The win saw Bayern claim second place in Group A behind Bordeaux and a place in the last 16, while Juventus, who were undefeated in 16 home European games before last night, dropped into the Europa League.

Bayern made the early running and should have been ahead early on. First Bastian Schweinsteiger fired over the bar, then Ivica Olic came agonisingly close as he headed against the post.

Schweinsteiger tried his luck again after 13 minutes but found Fabio Cannavaro in the way.

Having soaked up the pressure, Juve took the lead in the 19th minute. Claudio Marchisio was the architect, crossing from the left for David Trezeguet to convert low from inside the box.

Bayern doubled their efforts with Gianluigi Buffon turning the ball over to again deny the luckless Schweinsteiger, before, after 23 minutes, Olic nodded a Danijel Pranjic cross over the bar.

The pressure paid off as Bayern were awarded a penalty when Martin Caceres fouled Olic. Bayern goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt made his way from his penalty area and converted the spot-kick into the bottom-left corner.

Bayern continued to create all the chances, with Mario Gomez unable to keep down his header from another Pranjic cross.

Mark van Bommel saw his effort blocked by Cannavaro, before Buffon got in the way of another Schweinsteiger long-ranger.

Bayern continued where they left off after the break and soon got the reward as Olic fired home from close range.

Daniel van Buyten drew a save from Buffon and Schweinsteiger fired over the bar, before Fabio Grosso had a rare Juve attempt on goal.

Bayern killed off the game in the 83rd minute when Gomez took advantage after Buffon had parried Van Buyten’s header from a Holger Badstuber corner.

And Anatoliy Tymoschuk made it 4-1 in stoppage time, accepting the ball from Thomas Muller before firing home from 20 yards.
