EDDIE JORDAN last night rejected speculation that the team's designer, Gary Anderson (44), is going to leave the Jordan team. The speculation was prompted by the engineer's absence from the Jordan garage at Silverstone, the first grand prix he missed in six years.
Jordan said. "Gary's been to every race since the team started in 1991 doing race engineer and designing the car. He's worked for five years with only four days' holidays, what with the testing and developing the car. Nobody can keep up that pace."
"I said to him before Canada (June 1st) that he should stay at home we now have three race engineers to do the work at the track. But he wanted to go. On the way over we discussed it. Silverstone is a track the engineers know inside out and Hockenheim is all straights so it was a good time for him to take a holiday. He needed it.
"The issue is very straight forward. We have very good young engineers and they have to be given a chance. The team is developing and no one man can do everything. The team has to get bigger to succeed."
