TONY JONES reached the last 16 of a world ranking event for the first time in over three years as he defeated Grimsby's Sean Storey 5-1 in the Grand Prix at Bournemouth last night.

Confident after ousting Jimmy White in the previous round, the Sutton in Ashfield professional pulled away from his inexperienced rival after sharing the first two frames.

Old master Steve Davis coasted into the last 16 with easily his best display of the season to date. Six times world champion Davis clicked into top gear as he remained on course for his first tournament win in 21 months by whitewashing Gerard Greene 5-0.
