Having trailed 17-5 to Chinese Taipei, Ireland qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup Sevens Bowl with a 24-19 victory in Argentina. Taipei snatched an early lead when Chen-Fu Chen raced from his own line to score a try. Ireland replied with one of the best tries of the competition when they launched an attack from inside their own goal area and Matt Mostyn scored under the posts. Andrew Dunne converted.
Ireland conceded two further tries but Jan Cunningham reduced the deficit. Ferris then scored before Topping sealed victory.
