A game of golf is never over until the last putt. An d so it proved for Elm Park members over the last few weeks. Two weeks ago the Barton Shield team came from three holes down to beat Kilkenny and last Friday Brendan Lynch and Geraldine Kilmurray came from two down with two to play to win the Gilbeys Captains' Invitation Mixed Foursomes at Rathfarnham.

The 1998 captains edged out The Island pair of David McSwiggan and Deirdre Nolan on the second tie hole after winning the 17th and 18th to square the match. Elm Park member Terri English also won the professional's (Seamus Greene) prize a few weeks ago and last week completed a notable double when she won the President's (Damien Hand) Prize with 43 points on a countback from Phyl Kelleher.
