IT was confirmed yesterday by the Irish Horseracing Authority that Tote Arena Limited (the bookmaking subsidiary of the IHA) and Ladbrokes Ireland Limited have agreed a four year management contract for the operation of on course betting shops on behalf of Tote Arena.

Ladbrokes will be operating at this afternoon's meeting at Leopardstown and discussions are taking place with the Curragh regarding future operations there.

"This deal will be good for both Tote Arena and Ladbrokes and will ensure the most cost effective operation of the two betting shops, which are trading successfully," said Noel Ryan, chief executive of the IHA, yesterday.
