If all else fails, stick with Tiger

While Tiger Woods' 3,690 managers were throwing their arms in despair at his catastrophically, cataclysmically, calamitously poor joint third finish at the Deutsche Bank Open last Sunday - the first time in 16 tournaments he had failed to win after having at least a share of the third round lead - Mathew Goggin and Keith Nolan's 2,172 bosses were throwing their eyes heavenwards and calling ye all cocky, ungrateful, unappreciative, far-too-big-for-yer-boots so-and-sos.

They had no need whatsoever to get their calculators out to tot up their mens' winnings (they did, after all, amount to zero) but, in fairness, neither golfer actually played in week 12's tournaments. That, however, only meant that they had earned £500 less than the average booty they've collected in each of their six Golf Masters' appearances to date. Goggin and Nolan fair worst of all in our lowest-average-earnings-per-tournament list (based on players who have competed in at least six of our tournaments) while Woods has collected a fairly remarkable average of £89,833 on each of the mere five occasions he has turned up for Golf Masters' duty. The moral of the story then, we reckon, is stick with Tiger, even if he has chosen to put his feet up for 41.67 per cent of our tournaments so far - after all, when he's turned up in the other 58.33 per cent he hasn't half made up for it.
