DAVID HUMPHREYS has flown to South Africa and is expected to play for Ireland against Argentina in the Students World Cup on Saturday.

Humphreys has answered the call after Fergal Campion sustained an ankle injury against Wales last Saturday when Ireland lost 34-27 in the first group match. Ireland must beat Argentina next Saturday.

But Humphreys's stay will be short even if Ireland win on Saturday as he has to return next week.

Humphreys had been originally selected to captain Ireland but subsequently withdrew from the squad after consulting Ireland manager Pat Whelan.
