Springbok coach Nick Mallett has named Rob Kempson at loosehead prop for the one-off Test against Wales in Pretoria on Saturday, the only change from the side that beat Ireland last week.
Natal team-mate Ollie le Roux drops to the reserves. Kempson made his debut as a second-half replacement for Le Roux during the second Test against Ireland. Rob Howley is in danger of missing a Test with the Springboks for the second year running. The Wales captain is struggling to overcome a hamstring injury.
Wales caretaker coach Dennis John has summoned Ebbw Vale's uncapped scrum-half David Llewellyn as cover, and the former Newport player is due to arrive today. If Howley is left out when Wales name their line-up today, then Llewellyn would sit on the replacements' bench and the number nine spot would go to Pontypridd's Paul John, the coach's son.
