English premier league club Nottingham Forest have transfer-listed Dutch striker Pierre van Hooijdonk with a price tag of £8 million.
The 28-year-old international has been effectively on strike in the Netherlands since returning from the World Cup after claiming Forest had not bought enough quality players to survive in the premier league following their promotion last season.
Forest football director Irving Scholar had flown to the Netherlands on Monday to try to persuade Van Hooijdonk to stay at the club for whom he scored 34 goals last season.
The Dutchman, who still has four years of his Forest contract to run, joined the club in March 1997 for £4.5 million pounds after falling out with Scottish champions Celtic. Forest begin their premier league campaign at champions Arsenal on Monday.
