Athlone IT student Ger Hall celebrated the end of his exams by shooting a course record seven-under-par 64 at Cill Dara.

Just 24 hours after handing in his final paper, Hall blitzed the field in last Tuesday's open singles competition which he won with 44 points. In ideal conditions, Hall opened with two birdies and reached the turn in just 30 strokes. He got his sixth birdie at the 10th and picked up further shots at the 13th and 16th before his only bogey of the day when he drove into trees at the 17th. The round saw Hall's handicap cut to scratch.
