Galway United can regard themselves as unlucky not to have taken three points from Waterford United at a wet and windy Terryland Park yesterday. With just six minutes left of normal time, Aubrey Dolan sent in a dipping 20 yard left-footed volley which struck the crossbar.

The home side started brightly and had a good spell of pressure early on which saw Jered Stirling's right-footed shot hit the side netting.

Waterford were not without their chances either and could have taken the lead after 30 minutes when Stephen Grant beat Eddie Hickey to the ball. However, Brendan O'Connor was on hand to clear the danger and Hickey was to make a great save 10 minutes later when Grant had a free header towards goal.

Waterford had another chance to go in front when Stirling unleashed a 30 yard drive which just skimmed wide.
