Can an Irishman stop the rot? Can Garcia keep his crown? Will the wind blow and treat us to the real Ballybunion? Whatever happens in this week's Murphy's Irish Open, the players can enjoy playing one of the top links courses in the world - and that means that quality is likely to come through.
Darren Clarke is the 6 to 1 favourite to take the title and, given his love of links courses, and his ability as a shotmaker in the wind, those odds are quite tempting: especially when you consider the likes of Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Michael Campbell and Paul Lawrie are all absent.
Although Clarke has hardly set the world alight in previous Irish Opens, he showed enough form in Slaley Hall last week to suggest that he has recovered from the exertions of the US Open at Pebble Beach.
As an each-way sidebet, how about a few bob on new professional Adam Scott who is on offer at 50 to 1. Scott earned his first pay cheque as a professional at Slaley Hall - albeit just one for £1,700 - but is capable of moving up a class or two and may be worthy of some consideration.
