Kieren Fallon and Darryll Holland, currently occupying first and second positions in the jockeys' table, helped themselves to five of the six races on card at Ayr yesterday.
At the start of racing Fallon had 59 winners to Holland's 58 but at the close of play it was 61 apiece as Holland replied to the former's 48 to1 double with a 66 1/2 to 1 hattrick in the final three races.
Fallon drew first blood as DayBoy made a successful debut in the opening Greig Middleton Pep Median Auction Maiden Stakes, vindicating Denys Smith's request that the gelding's owner, the Duke of Sutherland, attend yesterday's card.
Fallon had to be at his stubbornest an hour later on Ormelie in the Gilt-Edged Maiden Stakes over a mile and a quarter.
