A BACK injury forced Marc Rosset to forfeit his singles match in the Hopman Cup mixed team event yesterday, but brilliant tennis by his teenage team mate Martina Hingis carried Switzerland to a 2-1 victory over Romania.
The Romanians' early ad vantage was wiped out when world number six Hingis levelled the tie after disposing of Irina Spirlea. Rosset recovered sufficiently to play the doubles, and he and Hingis defeated the Romanians to clinch the tie. Third seeds South Africa scored a comfortable victory over Germany in the other Group B tie.
