Sligo Rovers 3 Cobh Ramblers 1COBH RAMBLERS manager Stephen Henderson was furious with his team's performance at the Showground on Saturday night. Both sides were seeking their first win of the season but two goals for the home side in the space of 10 minutes put Sligo on course for a hard-earned win.
Henderson said he was "disgusted with our first-half performance. Our passing of the ball was terrible and we conceded goals from two setpieces . . . I'll be blunt and say it was pure stupidity at times and that is not acceptable."
Kevin Murray headed past Richard Brush in the home goal two minutes into the first half after Alan Kearney's free-kick from 30 yards was crossed in to the box by Gavin O'Neill.
Mauro Almeida sent a header past James McCarthy from a Brian Cash corner on 11 minutes to equalise and Sligo went ahead on 22 minutes when Romuald Boco's cross was headed to the net by Danny Ventre and Boco sealed victory after 86 minutes.
A superb fingertip save by Brush in the 59th minute kept Alan Kearney's shot out. Graham Cummins went close for Cobh in the 63rd and 70th minutes.
