Soaring temperatures in Annecy, France yesterday robbed Ireland's David Kidd of a fast time in the world junior athletics championships 10,000 metres walk.
In blistering heat Kidd was quickly dropped by the leading pack. But he was in good company as most of the 34 starters were strung out around the track.
Victory went to Russia's Roman Rasskazov, who finished a minute down on his best in 41 minutes 55.95 seconds. Kidd finished 22nd in 47:10.68.
