The Hazelgrove women's team will be hoping to continue their recent good form when they line-up in the final of the Mail on Sunday Grand Finals at the Quinta da Marinha Golf resort in Portugal, starting tomorrow. The team of Ann Hughes (7), Margaret O'Connell (12), Aisling Neill (13) and Evelyn McGrath (19) began their journey to the finals in March when they beat Charlesland and then saw off Luttrellstown, Co Louth, Laytown and Bettystown, the K Club and Ballykisteen, before defeating City of Derry - winners of the Irish section for the last three years - in the national final.

And in the play-offs for a place in the starting line-up in Portugal they had a 31/2-1/2 win over Malton and Norton from Yorkshire at the Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Manchester. Earlier in the year they won the club's first GUI pennant by becoming Leinster champions in the BMW mixed foursomes, and yesterday they beat Dundalk 31/2-11/2 in the Fourth Team decider at the Team Clarins ILGU Autumn Team Eastern District finals at Newlands.
