Gary Haylock has rejoined Shelbourne after spells with Portadown and the Greek club Panionios and subject to an international clearance will be available for their pre-season games.

Haylock, who also played in the Irish League with Linfield, has made a big impact in Irish football after starting his career with Huddersfield Town at a time when Eoin Hand managed the club.

His return to Tolka Park is now designed to broaden the attacking options of manager Dermot Keely as he seeks to reestablish Shelbourne as the most successful club in the country. Keely will be helped in that objective by two other important acquisitions. Steve Williams, regarded as the best goalkeeper in the National League last season, has signed from Dundalk while Neil Ogden has moved from Sligo Rovers.

Additionally, four other players have joined the club on short term contracts. John Powell and Raphael Andrade, who were with the Dutch First Division club Sparta Rotterdam last season, are due in Dublin shortly and they will be augmented by Carl van der Velden (Rushden and Diamond) and striker Mark Williams, who previously played with Shrewsbury Town. Newly promoted Galway United have signed Limerick FC goalkeeper Eddie Hickey. Hickey, who had been with the Shannonsiders for three years, is also to move to Galway where he is to take up employment.
