A superb spell of bowling by Richard Hastie coupled with an earlier 92 runs partnership for the third wicket between Brian O'Rourke and Ted Williamson powered Pembroke to an easy 65 runs victory over The Hills in their Leinster Senior League section A game at Milverton yesterday.
Pembroke certainly appear to have the Indian sign on the The Hills this season for including their victory in the Conqueror Leinster Senior Cup final a couple of weeks ago they have now finished victorious on four occasions over the The Hills this term.
Batting first Pembroke accumulated 222 for 6 in 54 overs with opening bat Brian O'Rourke hitting a dominant 84 off 138 balls including 2 sixes and 5 fours, while Williamson's part was also decisive making 44 in only 61 balls with 6 fours included.
Opening bat Ajiz Farooqui top scorer with 46, along with Mark Clinton and Stephen Archer who put together a gutsy 38 runs partnership for the seventh wicket were the only ones to offer the required resistance for the home side and the innings closed on an inadequate 157 in 48.4 overs.
Hastie's left arm deliveries netted him a fine bag of six wickets for 40 off 15 overs while John Davy grabbed 2 for 43, and O'Rourke followed up his stint with the bat with a five overs spell and one wicket for 18.
