NOT MANY good thing's have been said about the "jockeys' strike" which caused the abandonment of Haydock Park earlier this month, but one horse that will have benefited from the lost fixture is Harbour Dues.

Unlikely to have been suited by the heavy conditions that day, Lady Herries' three-year-old can make up for lost time in the Squirrel Conditions Stakes at Leicester today.

After successes in a Newbury maiden and a handicap at Goodwood earlier in the season, the Slip Anchor colt finished an unlucky third in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot.

After being held up in the rear, Harbour Dues was making ground when hampered three furlongs out and, although finishing well, he had too much to do and was beaten two and a half lengths by the winner, Samraan.

On the strength of this effort, he was made ante-post favourite for the Ebor. The subject of an injury scare pricked foot the day before the race, Harbour Dues ran well to finish a creditable fourth, beaten three lengths behind Clerkenwell.

Relatively lightly-raced having only had six outings, Harbour Dues will be open to improvement and is taken to land the nap in this Class C event.

Tim Easterby's consistent sprinter, Dominelle, merits consideration in the concluding Thrussington Handicap (Division Two) over six furlongs.

A winner at Beverley in June, the daughter of Domynsky has put up some decent efforts since, non more so than last time over five furlongs at Nottingham.

She stayed on strongly up thee centre of the track that day, but was denied by three quarters of a length by the in-form Another Batchworth. So long as her busy season has not taken it's toll, then Dominelle can gain a well-deserved second win of the season today.

Applaud, unraced since winning last season's Cherry Hinton Stakes at the July Meeting, can make a successful return to the track by lifting the Wysall Conditions Stakes on the same card.
