Happy Minstral has shown clear evidence that he is better given time between his races and can capture the Bill McHarg Memorial Handicap at Hamilton today. This contest is a noticeable step down in grade for this stoutly-bred son of Alleged who looked to be worth following when a good half-length second to Ivan Luis at Catterick in April.
Next time out he proved bitterly disappointing but then, rested until the end of July, he again ran a cracker, finishing fifth behind Maylane in the Tote Gold Trophy at Goodwood, never enjoying a clear run and unable to land a blow.
Admittedly, Happy Minstral has turned in another two stinkers since but returns to the track after a 41-day absence and should be able to make them all go here.
