SUPER 14 champions, the Blue Bulls have confirmed Bryan Habana is to join Western Province.

The Springbok winger, whose contract in Pretoria expires at the end of October, has been chased by several sides in South Africa but it seems he has rejected a new contract offer from the Bulls to link up with WP.

Early yesterday Province issued a statement saying that “negotiations to secure the services of the 27-year-old are ongoing” and the Bulls have now confirmed their offer had been turned down via an e-mail message from Habana’s agent and father, Bernie.

“The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd received an email from Mr Bernie Habana on Friday saying that Bryan Habana has not accepted the offer that was made to him by the Blue Bulls,” read a message on www.thebulls.co.za.

“The CEO of the Blue Bulls Company, Barend van Graan, received an email from Mr Habana on Monday which said that Bryan Habana has received and accepted an offer from the Western Province.

“Please note that at this stage we can’t say anything more and we will keep you up to date with the latest developments.”

Habana will reportedly earn €270,000 a year in Cape Town, making him one of the highest-paid players in South African rugby.
