GROUP FOUR won the second leg of yachting's gruelling BT Global Challenge yesterday when it arrived in Wellington having been unexpectedly becalmed off the New Zealand capital for hours.
Group Four won the first leg from Southampton to Rio de Janeiro and had led the second leg for the last 15 days. However, the winds died as it approached Wellington, and it sat on a placid ocean near the harbour mouth for almost nine hours. In second place, Save The Children crossed the finish line almost three hours after Group Four.
