UGGH. Poor auld Andy Dibble, the former Welsh international goalkeeper. Last week he was playing for Barry Town against Carmarthen Town in a League of Wales match when he dived to the ground to smother a cross from the right. He felt some pain at the time, and it grew worse as the match wore on, but he carried on playing. It was only when he was in the shower after the game that he discovered the source of the pain - a large patch of burns under his right arm. He was taken to a specialist burns unit at Swansea's Morriston Hospital, where surgeons performed grafts using skin from his right thigh. He is unlikely to play again this season. It seems Dibble came into contact with chemicals when he went to ground and samples of his damaged skin, the pitch and pitch markings have been sent for analysis. The ground, which is owned by Carmarthen County Council, and leased to the club, has been closed indefinitely. Only three weeks ago Dibble spoke to the Telegraph about his hopes of getting back in to English league football - "I'm still a young man in goalkeeping terms and I'm as fit as a fiddle," he said.
Oh dear. Em, at least they didn't ask him if he was suffering from burnout.
