When Howard Kendall was appointed manager of Greece's version of Everton, Ethnikos, two months ago he knew he had a hell of a job on his hands - bottom of the first division, the team had scored three goals in 14 matches. So when Wolves made striker Dominic Foley available Kendall hoped the Cork man might be the answer to his prayers. And he was, kind of. Foley helped himself to a hat-trick on his debut last week, away to Veroia, instantly making him the club's leading scorer (top scorer before that was on one). But . . .
Ethnikos lost 4-3. They lost again yesterday, 3-1 at home to OFI, leaving them with rather gloomy stats for the season - played 18, won none, drew five, lost 13. We hope Howard and Dominic are at least getting a tan.
