Mick McCarthy's search for extra front line options is now focusing on the Wimbledon player, Jon Goodman who qualifies because of his ancestry. Goodman, who celebrates his 25th birthday today, formerly played for McCarthy at Millwall before leaving with Ken Cunningham, to join Joe Kinnear's staff.

"Some paper work remains to be done but at this point, I'm confident that Jon Goodman will be qualified to play for us by the start of next season," said McCarthy. "He is a good, strong player with apace and that is one of our bigger requirements. I'd like to have him with us on this tour, but it wasn't possible because of the time factor."
