MUNSTER SCHOOLS SENIOR CUP St Munchin's 22 Castletroy 3:A SUPERB fourth try by Dan Goggin from a 40-metre break highlighted the Munster Schools Senior Cup win by St Munchin's over their Limerick rivals, Castletroy, at Dooradoyle.
Castletroy led with a penalty by outhalf Seán Moran after six minutes but the St Munchin’s forwards, spearheaded by the Ryan triplets, Evan, Gavin and Darren, took total control and created their two first-half tries scored by Matthew McSweeney and fullback James Clancy.
Winger Edward O’Keeffe had the third try but it was Goggin’s dazzling effort six minutes from the end which provided the biggest thrill in a one-sided contest.
Luke Clohessy, son of former Ireland star Peter, was scrumhalf for Castletroy who had Liam Cronin, brother of current star, Seán, as hooker.
