It was with deep regret that we read in September of Russian club Rostselmash's decision to sack their Belarussian goalkeeper Gennady Tumilovich, largely because we reckoned his absence from the footballing scene would deny Planet Football at least half a season's worth of material.
Past exploits? While playing for Dinamo Minsk he stole a bus, like you do, after a particularly heavy drinking binge and was caught by police (who let him go once they recognised him). Next? After a drunken row with the Minsk manager he drove off in a rage, lost control of his car which came to rest mere millimetres from the edge of a cliff. Then there was the time he wrapped his leg up in a plaster to get off training after a night on the tiles, not to mention the numerous occasions he's been sent off for questioning a referee's pedigree.
It was, then, with enormous delight that we read on Onefootball.com last week that Gennady is back - Portsmouth have given him a one-week trial. Watch this space.
