Leinster Senior League side Glenmore Dundrum more than merit another shot at reaching the FAI Cup third round after a rousing display earned them a draw against the National League's first division leaders in a scoreless, though intriguing, second round tie at Whitehall. They replay at the same venue next Thursday night.

Never overawed, Glenmore, beaten just once this season, took the game to the Division One leaders as both sides created their chances in an exciting first half.

Glenmore exposed Dublin City's three-man defence more than once with Stephen Gifford alert to cut out Gus Irwin's ball to Gary Smyth early on, while Colm Notaro had to clear after Derek Dodd lobbed his goalkeeper Paul Flood.

Struggling in defence and being by-passed in midfield Dublin City did impress up front.

Austin Skelly had a shot deflected on to a post from Tony Sheridan's clever lay-off on 20 minutes, while Ciarβn Smyth did well to get a vital touch to Brendan Kelly's low drive.

Glenmore's pace up front then exposed Dublin City again on the half-hour when Smyth drilled a shot not far wide of the post.

Dublin City were a different proposition after the break. But they rarely troubled Smyth whose only saves were comfortable.

Glenmore might well have won the game six minutes from time but for a brave block by Thomas McGauley from a Darren Power shot.
